Anti-Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene TREM2 in humans. The gene may also be known as PLOSL2, TREM-2, Trem2a, Trem2b, triggering receptor expressed on monocytes 2, and triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2a. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 25.4 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
