Anti-GPM6B antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein glycoprotein M6B. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 265 amino acid residues and a mass of 29 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. Up to 4 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the cerebral cortex and colon. A member of the Myelin proteolipid protein family, GPM6B is suspected to be involved in neural development. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include neuronal membrane glycoprotein M6-b, protolipid M6B, and M6B. GPM6B gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some GPM6B antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Flow Cytometry, and Immunofluorescence are also common applications.
