Anti-LRP1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein LDL receptor related protein 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 4544 amino acid residues and a mass of 504.6 kDa. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the liver, brain and lung. A member of the LDLR protein family, LRP1 is known to be an endocytic receptor involved in endocytosis and in phagocytosis of apoptotic cells. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation, protein cleavage and phosphorylation. The LRP1 gene has been associated with the disease, Keratosis pilaris atrophicans. Synonyms for this target antigen include APOER, APR, CD91, IGFBP-3R, IGFBP3R, IGFBP3R1, KPA, and A2MR. LRP1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
