Anti-X-ray repair cross complementing 1 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene XRCC1 in humans. The gene may also be known as RCC, X-ray repair complementing defective repair in Chinese hamster cells 1, SCAR26, and DNA repair protein XRCC1. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 69.5 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, fly, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
