STAT5 antibodies are immunological tools used to detect two very closely related proteins known collectively as signal transducer and activator of transcription 5. The two proteins are encoded by the genes STAT5A and STAT5B. STAT5 is involved in signal transduction and mediation of gene expression as a transcription factor. They are essential for the development of nTreg cells. STAT5 must be activated by kinases such as JAK to carry out their functions. STAT5 has been associated with cancer and is being investigated as a therapeutic target. STAT5 antibodies can be used in ELISA kits, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry and Western blotting.
