Anti-RBP4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein retinol binding protein 4. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 201 amino acid residues and a mass of 23 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. It is notably expressed in blood plasma and in urine. A member of the Lipocalin protein family, RBP4 is reported to be a retinol-binding protein that mediates retinol transport in blood plasma. The RBP4 gene has been associated with the disease, Retinal dystrophy, iris coloboma, and comedogenic acne syndrome. Synonyms for this target antigen include RDCCAS, PRBP, RBP, plasma retinol-binding protein, retinol binding protein 4, plasma, and MCOPCB10. RBP4 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 50 citations in the literature describe the use of RBP4 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
