Anti-BAG cochaperone 2 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the BAG2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 211 amino acid residues and a mass of 23.8 kDa. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. It is noted to be involved in protein folding and protein stabilization. Other names for this target antigen include BAG family molecular chaperone regulator 2, BCL2 associated athanogene 2, bcl-2-associated athanogene 2, dJ417I1.2 (BAG-family molecular chaperone regulator 2), and dJ417I1.2. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
