Anti-SPC24 component of NDC80 kinetochore complex antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the SPC24 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 197 amino acid residues and a mass of 22.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the SPC24 protein family, it is known to act as a component of the essential kinetochore-associated NDC80 complex, which is required for chromosome segregation and spindle checkpoint activity. Other names for this target antigen include SPC24, NDC80 kinetochore complex component, homolog, hSpc24, spindle pole body component 24 homolog, and kinetochore protein Spc24. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish and chimpanzee species.
