Anti-CEA cell adhesion molecule 6 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the CEACAM6 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 344 amino acid residues and a mass of 37.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. It is reported to be expressed in neutrophils. A member of the CEA protein family, it is known to be involved with the apoptotic pathway and cell adhesion. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Other names for this target antigen include CEAL, NCA, carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 6, Cluster of Differentiation 66c, and CD66c. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse and chimpanzee species.
