Anti-PEDS1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein plasmanylethanolamine desaturase 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 270 amino acid residues and a mass of 31.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Fatty acid desaturase CarF protein family, PEDS1 is known to be a plasmanylethanolamine desaturase involved in plasmalogen biogenesis in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Synonyms for this target antigen include plasmanylethanolamine desaturase and transmembrane protein 189. PEDS1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
