Anti-Trx antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target Trx is a known alias name of the protein thioredoxin, encoded by the TXN gene in humans. This 105-amino acid residue protein is reported to participate in various redox reactions through the reversible oxidation of its active center dithiol to a disulfide and catalyzes dithiol-disulfide exchange reactions. It is localized to the nucleus, cytoplasm, and is secreted of the cell and features ubiquitinated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types.
