Anti-BSS antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target BSS is a known alias name of the protein glycoprotein Ib platelet subunit alpha, encoded by the GP1BA gene in humans. This 652-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in cell adhesion and receptor-mediated signaling pathways, among other biological processes. It is localized to the membrane of the cell and features cleaved and glycosylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in the bone marrow and spleen.
