Anti-PR/SET domain 5 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the PRDM5 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 630 amino acid residues and a mass of 73.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 4 different isoforms for this protein. It is reported to be widely expressed with highest levels in colon and ovary. A member of the Class V-like SAM-binding methyltransferase protein superfamily, it is known to be involved with chromatin organization and the cell cycle. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Brittle cornea syndrome. Other names for this target antigen include PFM2, PR domain zinc finger protein 5, PR domain 5, PR domain containing 5, and BCS2. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
