Anti-EIF4B antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4B. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 611 amino acid residues and a mass of 69.2 kDa. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. EIF4B is known to be required for the binding of mRNA to ribosomes. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include PRO1843. EIF4B gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 170 citations in the literature describe the use of EIF4B antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies.
