Furin antibodies are immunological tools used to detect the transmembrane enzyme encoded by the gene FURIN. Furin is also known as PACE – paired basic amino acid cleaving enzyme. Furin belongs to the subtilisin-like prohormone convertase family and is the only known protein in the family to have a transmembrane domain. The enzyme cleaves protein precursors for activation, regulates cholesterol, and functions in peripheral immune tolerance. Furin antibodies can be used for Western blot, immunoprecipitation and immunohistochemistry.
