Cut away as much excess agarose as possible around the DNA band before weighing or processing the gel slice. This reduces the amount of gel that needs to be dissolved and makes the purification faster.

The Good

Very simple protocol, all of the necessary buffers and columns are included, and the procedure can be completed in approximately 30 minutes.

The Bad

Recovery can vary depending on the size and amount of DNA in the excised band, and very low-abundance bands can still result in low final DNA concentrations.

The Bottom Line

A dependable and easy-to-use gel extraction kit that works well for routine DNA purification. I especially like it when I need a quick workflow without preparing additional buffers.
