Company:

Abcam

Product Name:

Anti VCAM1 antibody [EPR5047]

Catalog Number:

ab134047

Clone Number:

VCAM1 is a cell adhesion molecule that regulates inflammation-associated vascular adhesion. Our goal was to detect VCAM1 in the brains of rats.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Applications

Immunofluorescence

Sample

Rat brain

Primary Incubation

1:100

Blocking Agent

Normal Goat Serum diluted in 0.1% BSA

Secondary Incubation

AlexaFluor 488 goat anti-rabbit

Tertiary Incubation

None

Detection

Confocal - fluorescence

Results Summary

Upon several optimization steps, we were able to detect VCAM-1 in the brain. Please note that this rat model was not of inflammation, which might explain the low to medium levels of VCAM-1. Antigen retrieval: TRIS-EDTA (pH9)0.1% Triton X-100.

Summary

The Good

Works well in rat samples.

The Bad

It might need optimization.

The Bottom Line

We believe the antibody works, but the intensity of the signal is dependent on an inflammatory state.
