I use actin antibody as a loading control for my Western blots. It especially works great for insoluble protein fractions.
Western blot
Protein lysate from Neuro2a cells
1:10000 in 1% BSA, Overnight at 4°C
5% BSA in Tris-buffered Saline Tween-20
1:10000 HRP-conjugated anti-Mouse IgG, 1 hour at RT.
ECL detection in documentation system (Vilber Lourmat).
Actin is a cytoskeletal protein. It does not solubilize in mild detergent containing lysis buffers and so is part of the insoluble fraction. It acts as good loading control for total and insoluble protein fractions.

Aliquot and freeze for longer storage.
Works in higher dilutions, can be reused, and gives good and clean signal.
