I made a cell wall hydrolase knockout in E. coli and I observed decreased growth in a growth curve. To investigate whether the effect is bacteriostatic or bactericidal, I have used this kit to figure out live and dead cells.

I have imaged a cell wall hydrolase mutant bacteria after staining them with the mixture of dyes containing Syto9 and Propidium Iodide (PI) from the kit and observed red-colored cells indicating that the mutant cells are lysing.
