Catalog Number:

25-056-Cl

The Cellstripper product can be used to release adherent cells without any enzyme activity. This product is ideally suited to fragile cell types.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Cell culture

Starting Material

Adherent cells

Tips

Room temperature storage is ok.

Results Summary

Similar to trypsin, add this reagent to your culture of adherent cells (i.e. 5 mL for a T-75 flask) and incubate until the cells detach. Because there is no enzyme activity this product may act much slower depending on the cells, but it is more gently for particularly sensitive cell types. It is advertised as compatible with media that contains serum, but results may be improved by gently rinsing cells with PBS first to remove traces of media.

Summary

The Good

More gently than traditional enzymatic products like trypsin.

The Bad

Slower for cells to detach.

The Bottom Line

This product is a great alternative to the usual cell detachment enzyme-based products. It may require longer incubation but may also improve viability for harvesting fragile cells.
