CD34 is arguably the most commonly used marker for identification of blasts in hematological malignancies. It is rarely negative, and therefore is included in almost every tube of every leukemia investigation panel. We use it to show these cells, which don't typically express other unique features. We needed a bright fluorochrome, so we went with PC7 (which is the same as PE-Cy7).

The antibody works well, yielding a good separation of positive versus negative cells as shown in the histograms; blast cells painted red. These would've been impossible to identify based on the forward/side scatter plot (also shown).
Bright, easy to use, good clone.
Expensive.
A good antibody, but comes at a price, especially when this tandem dye is easy to acquire from other suppliers.
