Antibodies are produced by plasma cells (PC) that are terminally differentiated B cells and play crucial roles in host protection against infections but are considered to mediate autoimmunity in patients with rheumatic diseases, such as systemic lupus (SLE) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Our research aims at understanding the biology of B cells and antibody-secreting cells (ASC) in health and disease, in this experiment, we are looking for markers of PC.

In this work, we were looking for surface markers that are differentially expressed by B cells (CD19+) and plasma cells (PC). We found that CD83 is higher expressed by PC in comparison with B cells.

It is not very bright.
Good option to stain CD83.
