STIM1 is a ubiquitously expressed highly conserved protein. It regulates the Ca2+ sensor of endoplasmic reticulum that shifts from the ER Ca2+ store to the plasma membrane, which inturn activates the calcium-release-activated calcium channels when the ER Ca2+ store is low. STIM1 also acts as a tumor suppressor, dysregulation of STIM1 may cause rhabdomyosarcoma and rhabdoid tumors. Here we checked the time course effect of STIM1 expression by chemoattractant.
