Viability assessment is important especially in older specimens and ones that have been mechanically disaggregated e.g., lymph nodes and other tissues. We needed a good viability dye that would allow us to distinguish dead from viable cells. We chose this dye for that purpose.

Must be run within an hour of adding the dye.
The results show decent separation of dead (7AAD+) events shown in red compared to the viable cells that do not allow 7AAD to enter the cell (shown in green).

Cannot use with fixed or permeabilized cells.
This is a simple viability dye that will be very useful to labs helping them distinguish dead from viable cells.
