Tips

It is difficult to find notes on the specific components of this product.

Results Summary

I stained whole blood that was preserved with standard paraformaldehyde compared to the Stable Store reagent and kept at +4c for a week until staining for flow cytometry. This product did maintain overall sample integrity and did not interfere with staining targets. One detrimental factor was the alteration of side scatter in blood neutrophils. In samples fixed with PFA all blood neutrophils formed a well-defined population with SSC over CD45. For samples fixed with Stable Store, there was a reduction in side scatter for about 50% of the population, which made these SSC-low neutrophils merge with the monocyte population. No other cell populations seemed affected.

Summary

The Good

Long term preservation of samples.

The Bad

Light scatter properties may be impacted in some cell types so reagent should be tested before using with valuable samples.

The Bottom Line

This product is good for flexibility in sample storage parameters which would be advantageous for receiving samples from different locations. Optimization needed to understand unwanted effects on forward/side scatter of certain cell populations
