Our research focuses on monocytes and their expression of typical and atypical markers in health and disease. In order to identify them, using CD14 is not enough. We therefore decided to try CD64 to make sure they are gated on.

Results Summary

The results are good. Not quite the great separation from granulocytes that is shown on the product's webpage (on Beckman.com), but it is OK (see image). The addition of a second marker, e.g., CD14 would likely enhance the definition of monocytes and will be probably needed for most of our specimens.

This is a good antibody, and will help identify monocytes. However, it is expensive (especially for a PC5-conjugate), and you may still need CD14 in your assay.
