CD20 is a well-known marker for B cells. Recently, T cells were also found to express CD20 (Schuh E, et al. Features of Human CD3+CD20+ T Cells. J Immunol. 2016 Aug 15;197(4):1111-7). We wanted to detect these cells in human peripheral blood. The selection of the antibody (and the clone) was critical to the success of this project.

Results Summary

The staining of B cells was excellent and clean. Positive B cells were easily resolved. For T-cells that express CD20, the resolution was acceptable. As has been shown in the literature, these cells express CD20 at lower levels compared to B cells. The results we got were good enough to identify these cells and quantify them.

Summary

The Good

The clone identifies CD20+ T cells

The Bad

It's an IgG2a (higher background)

The Bottom Line

A very good antibody that identifies CD20+ T cells, and of course B cells. Easy to use and good quality.
