Nucleic acid isolation from mammalian cells is a common upstream step in most molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR, and NGS. Here, I utilize this all prep kit to simultaneously extract both RNA and DNA from the same sample. DNA can be co-extracted along with the RNA in parallel, or purified later on after the RNA sample has been extracted.

This kit allows cell pellets to be resuspended in a lysis buffer that stabilizes RNA, followed by removal of gDNA using a spin column. gDNA can be extracted from the column in parallel with the RNA extraction or stored. The flow-through from the gDNA column contains RNA that is devoid of gDNA and can be purified.
Ideal for extracting both RNA and DNA simultaneously when samples are limited
Great kit that is very efficient at removing gDNA while still preserving it for downstream applications such as PCR. Ideal for experiments that require simultaneous quantification of gene expression by qPCR and examining genomic stability/mutations by standard PCR.
