Our lab studies the role of mTOR signaling in CD8 T cell differentiation and function. mTOR signaling controls the metabolic programming of T cells. Many of our assays depend on measuring visible absorbance, fluorescence, luminescence, fluorescence. For example, our ELISA readout measures absorbance, and RNA extraction requires quantitation. This plate reader really allows to measure multiple readouts. In addition, the plate reader software already contains instrument settings for hundreds of commonly used assays such as BCA and MTT. This plate is a great shared resource between a department.
