Our lab cultures archaeal organisms to study their physiology. In order to make our organism-specific media, among other reagents, we need an accurate all-around scale for measuring from a few milligrams to a few hundred grams.
Cell Culture
Solid, powder reagents
Find and collect reagents. Place weigh boat/paper and tare/zero the scale. Add reagents until desired weight is reached.
In order to keep the weigh chamber clean, I typically add the bulk of my reagents outside.
Using this scale, we are able to quickly measure necessary amounts of reagent to prepare media and other solutions.
