Our lab does a good amount of molecular biology such as amplification of 16S sequences of archaeal organisms and mixed microbial populations. This instrument has reliably carried out PCR-related applications.

1. Program the run: set heating temps and durations, number of cycles, etc2. Load tubes.3. Start run and pray to the PCR gods
A labmate also likes to use this thermocycler for timed incubations (eg. 18 hours at 37˚C then cool to 4˚C)
This instrument allowed me to run PCR for experiments like cloning or detection of regions of interest. Apparently also good for incubation.
Setting a program is straightforward, lid is heated, can save many programs.
