We are very happy with our DeNovix Spectrophotometer/Fluorometer. The instrument has multiple capabilities: can measure DNA, RNA and protein via microvolume, cuvette and test tube methods. Not to mention, the unit is very user friendly and operates the way modern smartphones do!

This was straight measurement of DNA concentration from a sample of mini prep plasmid DNA applied via micro volume onto the instrument. No additional reagents were used.

Tips

Remember to close all open apps every once in a while.

Results Summary

The results were very fast to obtain. Unlike our previous nano-drop, this instrument does not require a water sample to be placed for initialization prior to "blanking". We opened the app, it initialized quickly, and we blanked. After that, we measured DNA concentrations of our samples quickly by using 'fast mode'. This bypasses selecting "measure" each time. Results displayed were the final DNA concentration, purity of the sample, and the absorbance spec for your information.
