Fluorescence Imaging Systems Fluorescence gel imagers illuminate gels and blots with light at specific wavelengths to excite fluorescently-labeled nucleic acids and proteins. The resulting emitted light is then captured by filters and recorded by detectors for the visualization of electrophoresis results and blot analyses. Standard configurations include a UV transilluminator, while others may utilize blue, green, or red LEDs to enable multiplex detection capabilities. Additional features, including overhead white light, multiple interchangeable filters, and chemiluminescent detection, can support a wider range of imaging applications, such as color imaging and chemiluminescent Western blotting. Three-channel RGB excitation, which permits simultaneous detection and quantification of two protein targets and a loading control on western blots without the need for stripping and reprobing. Automated features such as optimal light source selection, autofocus, auto exposure, and real-time preview streamline imaging workflows and ensure consistent, publication-quality results.
