Glutathione Peroxidase Assay Kits

Glutathione Peroxidase assay kits contain reagent sets to determine the protein abundance or activity of glutathione peroxidases (GPx). These peroxidases catalyze the reduction of hydrogen peroxide using reduced glutathione (GSH) as a substrate, thus protecting cells from oxidative damage. The assay generally involves the oxidization of GSH coupled to the oxidation of NADPH. The resulting change in absorbance, measured by a spectrophotometer, is proportional to the GPx activity in the sample.
