The HCT116 cell line comprises immortalized human colorectal carcinoma cells. HCT-116 cells have been used in many biomedical research studies, including colon cancer biology, cancer stem cells, and the discovery of novel anti-cancer products. HCT-116 has been reported to have high metastatic potential in vitro and has been used as a model of liver metastasis from gastrointestinal cancer cells. Recombinant HCT 116 cells with genetic modifications, such as constitutive genes or knockouts have also been generated for research use. Visit the cell supplier page for more information.
