Absorbance Microplate Readers

Absorbance Microplate Readers Absorbance microplate readers are spectrophotometers that measure the UV-visible spectral absorbance of samples in multi-well formats. Among other applications, absorbance readers are often used to determine the concentration of analytes within a sample, such as nucleic acids, proteins, and cells. They are also used to measure biochemical reactions, including enzyme assays and colorimetric ELISAs. The most common plate format is 96-well; however, some readers can accommodate plates ranging from 6 to 1536 wells. Some may also have a built-in cuvette slot. Perhaps one of the most important considerations when choosing an absorbance reader is the wavelength range, which can generally fall between 200 to 1000 nm.
