These biological features may include protein modifications like glycosylation and phosphorylation, cleavage patterns, isoforms, and other protein associations. Native proteins and polypeptides may be preferred over recombinant proteins in work pertaining to in vivo environments. For example, for antibodies intended to interact with targets in vivo, using native protein antigens will more closely resemble the in vivo state.
