TUNEL assay kits are available from several suppliers for carrying out terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL). The TUNEL assay is a well-established method of detecting cellular DNA fragmentation that occurs from apoptotic signaling. Cells undergoing apoptosis contain damaged or fragmented DNA, which serve as substrates for the enzyme terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT). TdT finds DNA double-strand breaks and adds dUTP, which can be modified with labels such as biotin, fluorophores, or antibodies. Through detection methods such as flow cytometry and microscopy, apoptotic cells can be identified and quantified. Visit the supplier page for more information, including kit components.
