Live/dead cell assay kits use fluorescence staining to simultaneously evaluate the living and dead cells within a tissue sample or cell culture. Most often, a fluorescent reagent is used for a two-color distinction of the live and dead cells. However, dyes that bind specifically to only one type of cell, either living or dead, are also available. These kits and reagents are used in evaluating the viability or cytotoxicity of certain cellular conditions, such as in response to a compound. The cell staining results are typically observed using flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy. Click on the live/dead assay kits below for more details, including kit components and protocols.
