Streptavidin Beads

Streptavidin beads are solid particles conjugated to the small protein originally discovered in Streptomyces avidinii. Streptavidin has an extremely high affinity for biotin and contains four biotin binding sites. It serves as a robust protein conjugate, resistant to extreme pH, organic solvents, and most proteolytic enzymes. Streptavidin-conjugated beads are often used in the purification of biotinylated molecules, including antibodies, proteins, nucleic acids, and cells.
