
Affinity chromatography resins facilitate the selective retention of a target compound dissolved within a more complex sample. Resins used in affinity chromatography will vary depending upon the biological target and its chemical affinities. Interactions include antibody-antigen, protein A and G-immunoglobulins, streptavidin-biotin, lectin-polysaccharide, metal-polyhistidine tags, and enzyme-substrate complexes. Resin materials can include carbohydrates such as agarose and sepharose, immunoglobulins and metals such as nickel.
