Dulbecco's PBS (D-PBS)

Dulbecco's PBS Dulbecco’s Phosphate Buffered Saline (D-PBS) is a solution used to prevent osmotic shock and maintain osmotic balance within cells. It includes sodium chloride and phosphate buffer, but can be found containing other varying components such as calcium, magnesium and glucose. For washing cells, a solution including calcium should be considered. For retaining cell viability outside a growth medium, a formulation with glucose or pyruvate is recommended.
