Fast Red is a chromogenic substrate for alkaline phosphatase (AP), a common antibody conjugate. Upon reacting with AP, Fast Red forms a precipitate that is bright red in color and observable via brightfield or fluorescent microscopy. This substrate is widely used in immunohistochemical and immunoblotting applications. Note that Nuclear Fast Red is pink counterstain used in staining cellular nuclei.
