Protein Arrays

Protein arrays consist of a support surface such as a glass slide, nitrocellulose membrane, bead, or microtitre plate, to which an array of capture proteins is bound. Tagged probes are added to the array; any reaction between protein and probe will be detected by the system scanner. Protein arrays assess protein-protein interactions, monitor protein expression levels, or quantitate the amount of target analytes in biological samples. Arrays are used for research, diagnostics, quality control and monitoring disease states. Antibodies are also available in an array format, such as cancer biomarker, apoptosis and cell cycle antibody arrays. Protein arrays can be custom ordered, or produced in-house. Important considerations for protein arrays include the identity of the protein of interest, relevant species, and method of detection.
