Functionally, this protein is reported to be a non-essential component of the volume-regulated anion channel (VRAC, also named VSOAC channel), an anion channel required to maintain a constant cell volume in response to extracellular or intracellular osmotic changes. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 803 residues, a mass of 92.4 kDa, and is a member of the LRRC8 protein family. It is known to be localized in the ER and cell membrane. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally glycosylated. Other alias names for this target include TALRRP, volume-regulated anion channel subunit LRRC8B, T-cell activation leucine repeat-rich protein, epididymis secretory sperm binding protein, and TA-LRRP.
