Notably, KIF4 is known to play a role in cell division, among other functions. The KIF4A protein is 1232 amino acid residues in length and 139.9 kilodaltons in mass. However, as many as 2 protein isoforms have been identified. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue specificity, it is reported to be highly expressed in hematopoietic tissues, fetal liver, spleen, thymus and adult thymus and bone marrow.
