MTCO3 is an alias of the human MT-CO3 gene, which encodes the protein, mitochondrially encoded cytochrome c oxidase III. Notably, MTCO3 is known to play a role in electron transport, among other functions. The MT-CO3 protein is described to be 261 amino acid residues in length and 30 kilodaltons in mass. It is localized to the mitochondria of the cell. Other names for this target antigen include COIII.
