VCAN ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein versican, which is encoded by the VCAN gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is believed to play a role in intercellular signaling and in connecting cells with the extracellular matrix. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 3396 residues, a mass of 372.8 kDa, and is a member of the Aggrecan/versican proteoglycan protein family. It is known to be localized in the extracellular matrix and is secreted and is notably expressed in placenta. As many as 5 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally glycosylated, cleaved and phosphorylated. The VCAN gene has been associated with the disease, Wagner vitreoretinopathy. Other alias names for this target include ERVR, GHAP, PG-M, WGN, WGN1, versican core protein, chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan core protein 2, and CSPG2.
There are VCAN ELISA kits that can detect a target at concentrations as low as 27.4 pg/mL and as high as 200 ng/mL. Click on the products below for more detailed ELISA kit information, such as target reactivity and assay sensitivity.
