MCAM ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein melanoma cell adhesion molecule, which is encoded by the MCAM gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is reported to play a role in in cell adhesion, and in cohesion of the endothelial monolayer at intercellular junctions in vascular tissue. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid sequence of 646 residues and a mass of 71.6 kDa. It is known to be localized in the membrane and is notably expressed in endothelial cells in vascular tissue throughout the body. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally glycosylated. Other alias names for this target include HEMCAM, METCAM, MUC18, MelCAM, cell surface glycoprotein MUC18, and CD146.
Some MCAM ELISA kits can detect targets at levels as low as 3.2 pg/mL and as high as 4000 ng/mL. Click on the products below for more detailed ELISA kit information, such as target reactivity and assay sensitivity.
