PSA ELISA kits are designed for the quantitative detection of Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) in various biological samples, such as serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates. PSA is a protein produced by both normal and malignant cells of the prostate gland, and its measurement is widely used in the screening, diagnosis, and monitoring of prostate cancer. Beyond clinical diagnostics, PSA ELISA kits are also used in research settings to study the biology of prostate cancer, investigate new therapeutic targets, and develop new treatment. In humans, PSA is encoded by the gene KLK3 and may also be known as kallikrein related peptidase 3 or kallikrein-3. PSA hydrolyzes semenogelin-1, leading to the liquefaction of the seminal coagulum. Note that the term PSA may also be a synonym for other proteins, such as the PLAG1 zinc finger protein. Visit the ELISA kit supplier page for more information.
